Hello Year 2 Families, We hope you all had a wonderful and restful half term break. It has been lovely to welcome the children back to school this week and we are so pleased with how quickly they have settled back into routines. They have returned with positive attitudes and a real readiness to learn, which has been fantastic to see. This week, the children have completed their NFER assessments. We are incredibly proud of how maturely and sensibly they approached them. They tried their very best, listened carefully to instructions and showed great resilience throughout. Well done, Year 2! In preparation for our upcoming DT lesson, we are beginning to collect 4-pint milk cartons. If you have any empty, rinsed cartons at home, we would greatly appreciate you sending them in over the next week or two. Thank you for your support with this. We are also very excited about our upcoming school trip to the London Eye on Friday 6th March. This is always a memorable experience for the children, and we cannot wait! On the day of the trip, children will need to bring:
We recommend sending packed lunches in disposable plastic bags. This allows the children to throw everything away once they have finished eating, which helps to avoid any bags being accidentally left behind on public transport. Thank you, as always, for your continued support. We hope you have a lovely weekend,
World Book Day
March 5th is World Book Day and Hollymount is excited to show off our love of reading! The children will have a day packed with events that focus on reading for please including a Book Sampling Workshop, a visit to the Reading Café, Door Decorating Contest and Book Buddies. On the day, children can come, if they choose, dressed as an appropriate character from their favourite book.

Recorder lessons- Please keep them safe as they will pick up where they left off with Ms Jane in Year 3. PE- our PE days are Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Please wear PE kits into school Reading Books- please remember to bring back reading backs with their reading records on Monday so we can change switch them with a new book. Spellings- the children will have their spelling tests on Monday mornings and will know how they did the following Monday when the do the next test (you can access Ready Steady Spell via website under the Year 2 tab). Please make sure all uniform is labelled, as well as water bottles. Snack time- We ask that the children bring in a small healthy snack for morning break time ( fruit/vegetables/fruit-bars) No crisps, biscuits, sweets or chocolate. The children will be able to have their snack during break time. We also provide fruit during this time so there is also no pressure to provide snacks if you do not wish to. These are our behaviour expectations that we have gone through with the children, they are the same as last year. Use the poster to talk through these with your children at home. |
