Reception Update

🧑🌾🥕🐇 Farm Fun! 🌱🚜🐖
The big trip finally came around on one of the hottest days of the year. We brought plenty of water and headed out to deepest, darkest Surrey. After a short 30 minute drive, we arrived at Bocketts Farm for a day of fun.
Willow Class 👱🏻♀️👩🏻🦰👩🏻👧🏽👧🏾
Willow Class were met by the awesome Farmer Alfie, who spent the day showing us around the farm.
We started the day by meeting the rabbits, guinea pigs and chickens. We learned all about them and even had the chance to stroke them.
Next, we enjoyed a tractor ride around the farm, where we saw goats, pigs, horses, deer and llamas.
Our next stop was the kitchen garden. We had a run around and played a game to see how many fruits and vegetables we could identify. The children did really well.
At lunchtime, we enjoyed a well-earned rest while eating our lunch in the barn.
Straight after lunch, it was time for the pig race. We cheered on Luke Skyporker, but unfortunately, he wasn't feeling the Force. Instead, Purple Pig (Piers Boargan) won by a snout!
Our final stop was the animal barn. We spent a happy hour learning about the animals before bravely feeding them. Despite getting covered in plenty of slobber, the children thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

What a fantastic day we had on our trip to Bocketts farm! The children were full of excitement from the moment we arrived and enjoyed a fun-filled day of exploring, learning, and meeting lots of friendly animals.
Our adventure began by visiting some of the farm’s smaller animals. The children loved learning about the guinea pigs, rabbits, and the wonderfully fluffy-headed chickens. They enjoyed watching the animals closely and discovering interesting facts about how they live and are cared for.
Next, everyone climbed aboard for an exciting tractor ride around the farm. Along the way, we spotted horses, deer, cows, and pigs. There were lots of excited waves and smiles as the children looked out for all the different animals in the fields.
After the tractor ride, it was time to help feed some of the farm animals. The children had great fun feeding the alpacas, goats, sheep, calves, and cows. It was wonderful to see their confidence grow as they gently offered food to the animals and learned about their different diets.
One of the highlights of the day was meeting a lovely donkey called Esme, who enjoyed plenty of gentle strokes and attention from the children. We also visited the aviary, where everyone carefully counted the colourful lovebirds, zebra finches, and cockatiels - a close relative of our class pet, Coco.
After all that excitement, we enjoyed a well-earned lunch together before heading off to cheer on the very entertaining pig race! The children laughed and clapped as they watched the pigs race to the finish.
To finish our amazing day, everyone had lots of fun tackling the adventure obstacle course. The children climbed, balanced, explored the climbing frame, and zoomed down the big slides, ending the day with plenty of smiles and laughter.
It was a wonderful opportunity for the children to learn more about farm animals, build confidence, enjoy the outdoors, and create special memories with their friends. We are so proud of how well they behaved throughout the trip, looked after each other and how enthusiastic they were about every activity.
Thank you for your support in making this fantastic day possible, especially to our parent volunteers. We are sure the children will be talking about their farm adventure for a long time to come!
Sleepy end to the day
The coach ride hope was a more peace affair with lots of happy, tired children. A clear sign of a good day.

Useful information
Nut and Sesame Free School
We are a nut and sesame–free school. Some children have severe allergies, so please check all packaging for any food that is brought in, whether for packed lunches or birthday treats. Please note that this also includes foods such as hummus, pesto and seeded breads. Please also cut grapes in half to avoid a choking hazard.
Fund
If you would like to contribute to the £1 a week Reception fund, please see your class teacher. This can be paid termly as well. The fund is used to purchase items for fun activities such as baking, planting and craft activities.
Snacks
The children have access to fruit throughout the day, so there is no need to bring snacks for school time. The only snacks required are for after-school clubs.
Bags
We have limited space in the classroom, so please do not send rucksacks. Every child needs to bring a school bag. Please see the office if you need to purchase one. If your child is prone to toilet accidents, a drawstring bag with spare clothes, kept at school, would be very helpful.
Pick-up
Pick-up from Reception is at 3:10 p.m. This is purposefully 5 minutes earlier than the rest of the school. If you are also collecting a child further up the school, please collect your Reception child first.
Dance and PE
On days with either dance or PE, children are asked to come to school in their Hollymount PE kit which they will wear all day. PE and dance will officially start for Reception from Monday 15th. From the 15th, PE kit is to be worn on PE and Dance days detailed below.
