What we've been up to this week - Friday 10th July
What a moo-vellous week we've had in Nursery! 🐄🐑🐥
Our visit from Mill Cottage Farm has definitely been one of the highlights of the year! The children absolutely loved meeting all of the animals and had such a fantastic time. The children showed wonderful listening skills, asked some really thoughtful questions and treated all of our furry and feathered visitors with such kindness and care. It was lovely to see how gentle and respectful they were with the animals.
Over the last two weeks we've been busy learning all about farm animals in preparation for the farm visit, and it was wonderful to see the children using so much of what they'd learned.
As we head into our final week of Nursery (for most of our children), we'll be swapping the farmyard for the seaside as we dive into the amazing world of sea animals.
Have a wonderful weekend—and don't be surprised if your little one starts asking for a pet sheep or a pet donkey!
Free NHS Support for Parents – Helping Your Child Thrive at Home
The Merton Education Wellbeing Service (EWS) is offering parents free, 1:1 support sessions tailored to you and your child’s needs.
They can help you with:
Supporting your child to sleep more independently and confidently
Managing specific fears (such as animals, needles, or sickness)
Reducing reassurance-seeking linked to worries
Responding to anxiety or panic in the moment
Creating calmer routines and reducing conflict at home
This trusted NHS service supports hundreds of Merton families each year. Over 90% of parents report progress towards their goals and would recommend the service.
Sessions are practical, evidence-based, and focused on giving you tools that make a real difference in everyday family life.

You can also collect a paper application form from the school office.
- Please send your child in with a water bottle. This can be kept at school all week and taken home on a Friday, or it can come home every day. Please ensure water bottles are labelled.
- Please ensure that children have a full set of spare clothes in case of accidents.
- Please do also ensure that all clothes are labelled so that we can reunite them with their owners!
- If your child is doing Mini Explorers, please ensure they have a packed lunch each day (No nuts) Whole grapes are a choking hazard so please ensure they are cut in half or quarters.
- A reminder that morning drop-off is flexi between 8:30 – 9. Afternoon drop of is 12:30. Afternoon collection is flexi between 3:10-3:30.
- Please don’t send children in with toys from home. The children have plenty to play with in class and we cannot be responsible for things that get lost or broken (the exception to this would be a comfort toy that your child might need to bring if they’re finding settling tricky and this can be discussed with one of us)
