Hollymount Entitlement

The Hollymount Entitlement- our approach to Enrichment

We believe that educational visits are an integral part of the curriculum and learning experience for every child. Appropriately planned visits and visitors enhance and enrich learning and improve attainment, and so form a key part of what makes Hollymount Primary School a supportive, effective and exciting learning environment.

What your child will experience

Throughout the year class teachers will plan and deliver the curriculum for that child’s age.

External visit/trip

The teachers will plan trips out of school to enhance the educational experience the children undertake. For example, if the children are learning about the Tudors they could visit Hampton Court Palace. For younger children this could be a simple visit to a local part to study minibeasts or do planting.

Theme Day/internal visit

The teachers will plan a day that brings an area of the curriculum they are learning to life. This will be a whole days’ worth of learning based on one ‘Theme’ and an internal visit will be organised to compliment this learning. For example, if the children are learning about sustainability then the teachers could plan for an ‘Eco Day’ or if the children are learning about the rainforest an internal visitor who has visited the rainforest could come and be part of ‘Rainforest Day’.

Whole school events

As a school we will have events where we are all united in one occasion. This would include events such as world book day or sports day.

Residentials

Certain year groups will experience residential trips where the children spend time away from home.

Cultural capital events

We want to ensure that every child has the best start to life and we are aware that the cultural experiences between children and families can be different and the purpose of the cultural capital events is to help close this gap. This will be on top of the entitlement offer we have put on for all children
